The Balwyn Home by Georgia Ezra of Studio Ezra is a suburban home in Melbourne that offers warmth, yet oozes modernity, luxury, elegance and exclusivity. Georgia and her team set about designing a home for a young couple that had a vision for a space that offered an escape from the pressures of modern corporate life – Studio Ezra revelled in turning this vision into a reality.

Studio Ezra were engaged by the clients to do the full interior design of their home development in Balwyn. Georgia and her team worked closesly with the clients designing every room with precision, customised joinery, tiling art and fixtures for every room.

The clients were a young beautiful couple that Georgia has now befriended. Both clients worked very long horus and ultimatley wanted somewhere to come home to that took them off the street scape, allowing them to accomodate family from overseas. Soon a strong working and personal relationship blossomed between client and designer – Georgia has gone on to do future work with the couple.

Georgia and her team played a role in the interior architecture and styling for the entire house. They worked closely with the clients to select joinery, materials, fixtures, fittings and every furniture piece for every room throughout the entire home. The studio also worked extremely closely with the builder to ensure details were built perfectly.

Georgia drew inspiration from traditional African design and architecture. She wanted the home to adopt a modern African and Mediterranean feel. The clients were in awe of Georgia’s unique ability to perfectly match these conflicting styles to create a stunning final result.

One of the key design aspects is the different narratives that each bathroom space tells. These conflicting narratives are created through the differing tapware, chosen specifically to compliment the tone of each tile.

Ultimately the Balwyn home by Studio Ezra was the story of a collaborative relationship between designer and client. The relationship progressed in perfect synergy to create a residential space that offers warmth and comfort whilst reflecting the stylish sophistication of contemporary Melbourne living.
