HYPE Collective during Melbourne Design Week, as they host Collective Exchange – New Media, with guest speakers including Emily Power; Editor Domain and The Weekly Review magazines, Jan Henderson; Principle Henderson Media Consulting, Co-editor Inside and Editor Archiel.tv and Ben Morgan; Co-founder of BowerBird.io.
The panel will discuss the role of new media in architecture and unpack opportunities being created for more architects to do better work more frequently. Traditional architectural media seemingly favouring a select few, with the quality of built outcomes not always providing the requisite filter. With factors such as function and performance taking a back seat to form and fashion; the end user’s experience of celebrated architecture remains mute. Recent disruption has seen an emerging trend of new media, circumventing established industry structures, democratising the system by connecting a broader array of talented architects to broader audiences and potential clients more directly.
