About

UWA School of Design: Conversations on Design for Regions in WA

As part of the series, UWA School of Design Dialogues, this presentation aligns with the most recent issue of Future West (Australian Urbanism), a publication that analyses the unique landscape and challenges of the Western region of Australia. Presented by Jennie Officer of Officer Woods Architects and the UWA School of Design, the evening event will focus on regions and the role they play in development and urbanisation, stemming from fast paced environments to remote landscapes.

Following Jennie’s presentation, a discussion will be open to those in attendance to converse about the potential effects of design identity, values, culture and economy have on regions and their communities. Jennie will be joined by Sarah Lynn Rees of Indigenous Architecture and Design Victoria and Trent Woods of Officer Woods Architects. Jennie Officer presents the issue of regions and community as the winner of the Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Best Public Building and as a member of the East Pilbara Arts Centre.
