Western Australia’s night dedicated to the state’s unique, diverse and dynamic architecture is less than a month away, with the WA Architecture Awards celebrated on June 23.
Hosted annually by the Australian Institute of Architects, the awards honour excellence in the design and construction industry, and provide an opportunity to demonstrate the significant contribution architects make to the quality of the built environment.
The awards will be in the Crown Towers Ballroom, beginning at 6pm.
Adorers of design and architecture can also view the exhibition of entries from June 19 to 30, 9am to 5pm, at Allendale Square, 77 George’s Terrace, Perth.
With a record number of 148 entries, representing over 100 architectural practices, this year’s awards program showcases a variety of projects, including major city developments, schools, various forms of housing and interior architecture.
Last year, the highest overall honour, the George Temple Poole Award was presented to two projects for the first time in the history of the WA Architecture Awards – the City of Perth Library and Public Plaza and the State Buildings, both designed by Kerry Hill Architects, with Palassis Architects as heritage architects on the State Buildings.
The State Buildings went on to win a National Architecture Award.
