The Schimek House built in 1960 and originally designed by Architect Bryce Mortlock in the Mid century Sydney School Style. It was designed for and built by Henry Schimek who was the builder responsible for building many of the Ancher, Mortlock and Woolley houses.
The Stage 1 works designed by Trace Architects includes the strip out of an unsympathetic 1980’s built partition fit out located within one of the original wings of the house. Two new bedrooms flanking a generous bathroom were created using a rich palette of timber veneer joinery, dressed timber detailing, combined with concrete face brick and Japanese ceramic tiles inspired from the intact original parts of the house.
