This 6 bedroom house on the foreshore of Gordon’s Bay, Coogee was created for a youthful family. It joins a north-bound patio to bring light and air into the focal point of the precarious, east-bound site. The entrance offers a vista from Gordon Avenue through the three story stair void, over the 15m lap pool, and to the bay past. The principle materials utilized are concrete and recolored timber, for their honesty, solidness and delicateness. Extensive, hand crafted timber turning screens cover the house and manage daylight and security. The outside palette proceeds through within the home to separate the outline amongst inside and outside. The Gordon’s bay home is spread over three levels. It has a raised fundamental living, kitchen and feasting level and an easygoing, lower level which opens onto the garden and view. The palettes and furniture chosen for each space mirror the utilization of the space. Dull timbers, concrete and delicate neutrals are attracted from the outside palette in the primary living level, with some shading hilights to acquire the yard cultivate. The lower level has limed timber roofs and dominatingly white palette and easygoing decorations. The stone chimney was made from stream stones as a counter piece to the more rich and straightforward upper level chimney detail.
