From The Architects
IDLE ARCHITECTURE STUDIO was approached by the TRIBE team over six years ago due to our previous involvement with modular architecture and experience within the hotel and residential sector. Understanding the social, financial and logistical challenges faced by the industry, we agreed with Tribe that the modular process would present an opportunity for streamlined construction and a high quality architectural finish.
For many years, IDLE ARCHITECTURE STUDIO & TRIBE collaborated to fine-tune an efficient and practical module that could be manufactured offsite in a controlled environment then transported to site and stacked over a number of levels. In Perth TRIBE there are 63 modules in total; each container consisting of two highly resolved hotel rooms and a central corridor. They were assembled on site in 14 days- subsequently reducing construction cost, site wastage and maximising construction efficiency. The process was new and innovative and resulted in a contemporary building that belies its underlying modular roots and stands proudly as a symbol of TRIBE’S innovative entry into the hotel market. As designers of the building we have utilised a variety of new technologies and materials in the facade to create a final building that is both striking and cutting edge in its final form.
From The Interior Designers
The new Tribe Perth unlocked its doors in June 2017, ensuring to bring an artfully curated, guest-centric and refreshingly inexpensive design hotel different to an industry seriously in need of a little disruption.
The inventive modular hotel was manufactured totally offshore and transported to its home site in West Perth, a process that drastically reduced the cost of construction and permitted the hotel group to hand down savings in the form of lower tariffs. Where the developer hasn’t spared is interior design, employing Travis Walton Architecture to produce an ‘edited luxury experience’ that’s part social destination, part gallery area and every inch a refined sanctuary for the city aesthete.
