Providing residents with a coastal lifestyle blended with urban influence, Hampton Hill speaks to a sense of visual modesty and a seamless connection to the external environment. Created by leading developers Lowe Living, the structure is comprised of 32 residences and offers a sense of privacy whilst unfurling towards the vistas beyond.

Located in the Melbourne beachside suburb of Hampton, Hampton Hill is anchored within a close-knit community and unites residents through a shared love of the seaside. Situated 14 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD and enclosed by an engaging hospitality scene, the building reflects the urban locality through its architecture. Lowe Living applies modern design principles to the façade, with clean lines and geometric forms, while the masonry and concrete palette is softened by touches of luxurious brass and abundant cascading plantings, creating an elegant street presence.

Encompassing two luxury penthouses and 30 residences – with either one, two or three bedrooms – the design of Hampton Hill expresses an intentional consideration of the environment.

Encompassing 30 residences with either one, two or three bedrooms, as well as two luxury penthouses, each home is intentionally designed in consideration of the environment and achieves a 7.5-star energy rating. In a gesture of biophilic design, the homes are oriented to maximise ventilation and access to sunlight. Double-glazed windows serve as a means of climate and acoustic control, establishing a temperate and comfortable ambience indoors. Lowe Living has ensured water can be harvested from the property, to sustain the gardens, whilst on site undercover bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging stations incentivise better commuting practices from residents. The minimised environmental footprint of Hampton Hill has contributed to the development receiving an outstanding endorsement from Bayside City Council – a glowing reception never before achieved by a developer.

The landscape design at Hampton Hill echoes the playful coastal-urban dynamic of the suburb. Florian Wild crafts an environment that quietly pulses with life, as lush foliage enhances the surrounding raw textures of timber, brickwork and stone. The visual dynamism of the space is highlighted by features such as the reflecting pool and upright tree ferns, which draw the gaze to both the horizontal and vertical aspects of the building. An atrium lightwell allows natural light to spill into the space, while all apartments have their own terrace bordered by boxed planters and overflowing with greenery. Combining the organic and structural, the planters softly define the parameters of the outdoor living and dining space whilst offering protection from the natural elements. A penthouse also incorporates a private pool, elevated from the terrace floor to create the illusion of water extending out into the horizon.

Internally, Hampton Hill is understated and timeless. Throughout, Woods Bagot applies a limited materiality to an earthy palette in order to emphasise the natural appeal of each space. The bedrooms are lightfilled and spacious, with an abundance of storage options available. In the bathrooms, uninterrupted lines contribute to a sense of order. Matte stone-topped vanities combine with finely glossed tiles, mirrored cabinets and brushed nickel finishes to control the movement of light in the room, with the matte surfaces absorbing the light and the reflective surfaces redistributing it; the result is both bright and experientially gentle.

Elegant and open, the kitchens of Hampton Hill centre around a solid island bench. In select floor plans, upon request, a recess can be added to the kitchen that enables it to function as a workspace, dining area or drinks station. Bespoke upper and lower cabinetry conceals the functional elements of the kitchen, assisted by the fully integrated nature of appliances by Miele and Fisher & Paykel. The smooth laminate finish on the cabinetry combines with dappled stone to create a fascinating textural interplay in the kitchen, adding aesthetic appeal to pragmatic parts of the space, such as storage solutions.

Within the building, a system of internal gardens echoes the playful coastal-urban dynamic of the suburb.

Utilising the talents of Florian Wild and Woods Bagot, Lowe Living crafts a building that embraces its surrounding environment. Whether it be a refined one-bedroom dwelling or a lavish penthouse, residents of Hampton Hill can entirely welcome the refreshing coastal air and immerse themselves within the beachside location.
