Technology and Texture – Seekers by Flack Studio
On Fitzroy’s iconic Gertrude Street is Melbourne’s latest destination for luxury eyewear. Seekers has a design-led approach, where form and function are of equal importance, so it’s no surprise the business opted for local design experts Flack Studio to fit out the new store.
The brainchild of optometrist Dr Jayson Stone, Seekers blends state-of-the-art technology with a selection of design-led lenses and frames from the likes of Thom Browne, Oliver Peoples and Native Sons. True to Flack Studio form, the store itself has an abundance of textural complexity and injections of personality with the interiors complementing and accentuating the Seekers collections rather than distracting from them.
A rough, painted brick wall sits next to smooth, curved walls. Custom-designed walnut cases house and showcase the frames, sitting on top on smooth concrete flooring that still bears the marks of its past. Flack’s signature use of primary colours adds a contemporary touch, contrasting with the stainless steel, walnut and buttery leather of the furnishings that surround it alongside a yellow set of drawers here, blue drawer liners there.
At once timeless and contemporary, the store reflects Seekers’ approach perfectly – modern, high-quality and selective yet utterly accessible and welcoming.
