Alex Hotel by Sydney based interior architecture firm Arent & Pyke responds to the overarching concept of the hotel is your home.
Together with the client, four key concepts were established for the interior design; ‘the personal’, ‘the escape’, ‘the craft’ and ‘the legacy’, to nurture a sense of intimacy, connectedness and domesticity.
The main discussion was always about ‘Alex’ being someone familiar to us all- an uncle whose home you love to visit, a treasured old friend with a house full of wonderment.
The interior design, furnishing and styling imagines the richness, the personality, a sense of frivolity and the layering of a story.
The list of critical acclaim Arent & Pyke have received for the Alex Hotel is extensive and prestigious.
2016 WINNER Hospitality- Australian Interior Design Awards.
2016 WINNER Hospitality- Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards.
2016 FINALIST Designer of the year- IDEA Design Excellence Awards.
The Hotel review company Mr and Mrs Smith said the following about the Alex Hotel- “Alex Hotel, in Perth’s Cultural Centre, proves that Perth’s foremost gourmands – and owners of some of the hippest eating and drinking establishments in the city, are as hip with boutique stays as they are with artisanal edibles. Inside the Cubist-style-Yin-Yang block, Aussie interiors firm Arent & Pyke have added Marcel Breuer-style seating, pendant lights and acid-hued sofas to create a hotel with the informality of a city crashpad”.
