Proudly honouring the ‘Made in Italy’ label, sanitaryware company Catalano champions sustainable manufacturing. Available in Australia exclusively through Rogerseller, the Italian brand has been widely recognised for its environmentally responsible approach.

Founded in 1967, Catalano has spent decades developing its claim to the ‘Made in Italy’ label. Referring to more than just geographical origin, the designation indicates excellence, reliability and innovation in both the attributes of products and the processes underpinning their creation. With a single manufacturing plant – Ceramica Catalano – located in close proximity to Rome, Catalano produces all of its sanitary wares in a controlled environment defined by high-level automation and inimitable craft, distinct to Italy.

From Ceramica Catalano emerges the Catalano Zero 100 Washbasin and Catalono Zero 55 Floor Mount Toilet Pan with Slim Seat. Both provided in a smooth, glossy white, the washbasin can be wall hung to establish a tranquil feeling of airiness in the bathroom space. A rectilinear piece, the basin pairs well with a Catalano drawer unit or aluminium frame; alternatively, the amenity can be installed for a sit-on or semi-inset outcome. Expressing a similar aesthetic, Catalono Zero 55 Floor Mount Toilet Pan with Slim Seat is minimal and sculptural. The design is a subtle addition to a bathroom, with a horizontal outlet that can be effortlessly converted into a floor outlet using a pipe fitting.

Sustainability underpins all Catalano operations. The environmental impact of the manufacturing plant is evaluated on a daily basis by a team of specialists, whilst detailed Life Cycle Assessments of all products take into consideration the extraction of raw materials, the chemical composition of products and production processes – including the consumption of electricity gas, water, atmospheric emissions and the waste produced by the industrial process – the packaging, point of sale and means of transport. Additionally, Catalano has a revolutionary waste recycling plant, which allows 100 per cent of processed waste derived from raw materials to be recycled. As a result of these efforts, the company has become the first of its kind to achieve EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification. An EPD certificate recognises a business’s research into and verification of its manufacturing processes from an environmental perspective. Furthermore, Catalano has also become the first company in the sanitaryware sector to obtain an ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) certificate.
