Overlooking a premier golf course and expansive rural terrain, Lonsdale Links encloses a golfer’s lounge, restaurant, commercial kitchen, shop and a range of related amenities. The clubhouse is firmly anchored to its site on the crest of a hill, withstanding the harsh winds sweeping off Bass Strait.
Using a series of curved blade walls, Wood Marsh embeds Lonsdale Links into the landscape. Finished with a textured render, the walls contribute to a low-lying architectural form expressing both permanence and durability. An earthy, tonal colouring reinforces the bond between the building and the natural context, with sunlight glinting off its elegant bronze glazing.
Following the example set by the exterior, the interior of Lonsdale Links relates to the fairway. A naturalistic palette sees vibrant green carpeting combine with laminated timber beams and a gently undulating acoustic ceiling. A central dry-stack fireplace stands as the stout focal point of the lounge, and an oversized timber door distinguishes the space from the connected restaurant.
