Toorak Residence II

The second Toorak Residence designed by Hecker Guthrie is another beautiful example of local Australian interior design and stylish modern architecture.

After building a relationship with the client, Hecker Guthrie were able to demonstrate the full potential of their home. As the scope of works became more extensive, the project soon focused on creating a bespoke home that addressed all of the client’s personal requirements.

Using the existing architecture to guide the selection and placement of furniture and styling throughout the home, Hecker Guthrie saw the opportunity to curate the client’s extensive collection of art and antiques with contemporary and relevant items to take them through the next stage of life in the house. The original arched doorways provide stylish opportunities for vignettes to be created and entice you through to the next room. Eclectic and precious items from the client’s travels are drawn into a sharp relief and given new life, while juxtaposed with contemporary modern interior styling.

Adding a playful touch from the clients love of Chanel, incorporating heavily textured tweed fabrics in charcoal, white and creams with hints of sparkling silver threads into large scatter cushions. Reinstating original fixtures, such as the oil rubbed brass curtain rail that separates the formal lounge from the Sun room, hung with heavy, self-lined drapes in a rich charcoal create a frame to the sun-drenched room.
