South Yarra Apartments
by AM Architecture
These modern South Yarra Apartments create a unique living space of contemporary design fused with rustic interior.
Responding to the natural surrounding beauty of the area, design of the South Yarra Apartments incorporates a unique building form, which folds up towards the sky, allowing the ceiling of the ground apartments to become an open plane, maximising views.
After a detailed analysis of the site, where the apartments were to be built, AM Architecture realised the small land space for building, and yet was a uniquely positioned site, which offered the opportunity to sustain two high amenity apartments of modern architectural design.
The living spaces were planned to face the north, creating indoor-outdoor spaces which conjoin with the leafy grounds of the South Yarra Library next door, and fill the space with dabbled light, which filters through the vibrant green of the library’s golden elm trees on the property.
The first-floor balcony of the apartments, juts out into the trees, folding upwards to create privacy on the balcony, whilst also forming a covered entry point for the ground apartments also.
South Yarra Apartments are a conceived as a series of fluid internal and external spaces, with an open form, folding to shape, the spaces within, to allow for a free flow of design within each room, to create a modern, yet soft living apartments.
