The Lunetta Stool Collection by Sally Caroline
Melbourne interiors atelier Sally Caroline delves into the world of furniture design with Lunetta, a whimsical collection of stools.
Interior designer Sally Knibbs, founder and director of Melbourne atelier Sally Caroline, has spent a decade crafting evocative interiors in homes across Australia and globally that are not only deeply empathetic to clients’ needs and lifestyles but are underscored by artfulness and light-heartedness. Now, she and her design studio team are bringing that same sense of playfulness to furniture design with the launch of the Lunetta Stool range.
The range, which comprises perch, barstool and bar chair options and is fully customisable, embraces rounded forms in distinctive striped, patterned and plain fabrics with solid-steel frames (in linished stainless, blackened or powder-coat finishes). Lunetta was inspired by the brio of Italy’s Amalfi Coast – one of Sally’s favourite destinations – in particular the arches of the lively hotel terraces that dot the coastline. “Elegant arched motifs brace the stool’s steel frame, finished with a delicate link detail that adds a subtle embellishment,” she says.
Handcrafted and made to order in Melbourne, the range has upholstery options in fabric, (including velvet), leather and vegan leather, and a vibrant colour palette that includes lolly pink and terracotta. While all the designs are available in exterior-rated materials, the Lunetta Outdoor Perch features a removable cushion which can be fastened to an open rod base.
Lunetta marks the launch of the SC Collection, an exciting new era for the studio as it moves into furniture design for the first time. “Designing bespoke pieces for our clients over the past decade has primed us to explore furniture pieces through our own creative lens,” says Sally. “Launching a dedicated furniture collection is an adventurous leap, pushing our boundaries as designers while embracing the joy, learning and creativity inherent in our craft.” Other furniture and decor lines are in production, including a series of rugs, all inspired by the studio’s design philosophy and anchored by Sally Caroline’s extensive portfolio of project-specific furniture concepts.
