Vincent Van Duysen’s Mateo table is characterised by a distinctive central pedestal in a cylindrical conical shape with lightweight rounded tabletop. Mateo is available in two heights making it suitable for many uses within interior spaces. The design features a vertically grooved base, splitting the conical form perfectly in two. The tabletop appears to float on top of the base, with a narrow and lightweight profile and robust construction, stabilised by one or two conical base structures. Enriched with new compositional options in 2024, Mateo is now available in sizes 300, 350 and 400cm, is offered in two shapes—a round and an oval—with a single or double conical base, and in two height options. In addition to finishes such as coffee oak, sunrise oak, glossy lacquers, and burnished metal, the conical base now features a mirror steel option.
Multiple configurations and sizes available, contact Molteni&C Melbourne or Sydney showrooms for options and specifications.
Vincent Van Duysen was born in 1962, in Lokeren, Belgium and graduated in architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, in Ghent. From 1986 to 1989 he worked in Milan and Brussels. He opened his own studio in Antwerp, in 1990 focusing on architecture and interior design. The relationship between interior design and architecture in his work is profound. Furnishings and accessories are designed with an architectural perspective that is not limited by form, but is expressed with a careful perception of interior space and its relationship to the exterior architecture. By interpreting architecture and redefining its proportions, Van Duysen creates objects of great purity and simplicity that still retain a concrete character and solid form.
