JAMU
by One Design Office
JAMU by One Design Office is a commerical interior design fit out of an upscale restaurant in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond.
With Melbourne’s culinary scene over saturated with numerous modern Asian restaurants, it was important for ODO to create an interior design that would define Jamu through a strong dose of eastern influences.
ODO has conceived a modern space in a darkly ambient palette with a circular motif that symbolises a place of gathering. As such, the dining tables are round, as are the cut outs in the black and copper mesh screens – inspired by the partitions in traditional Chinese architecture – that visually divide the restaurant.
Following the interior aesthetic, the food emerges from an open kitchen that was designed by ODO to echo the contemporary nature of the food on the menu.
The dark interior aesthetic created by ODO through their interior design perfectly symbolizes the mysterious nature of the culinary delights from deep within the Orient.
