Dune by Rothelowman
Crafted by Rothelowman and The Drawing Mill on behalf of Andrews Projects, Dune comprises 12 luxury whole-floor apartments with sweeping views over Main Beach on the Gold Coast.
The Dune apartment building is a slender tower located directly adjacent to Main Beach on the northern end of Queensland’s Gold Coast. The project embodies an architectural response to a coveted location: large open living areas flow to spacious balconies while sliding glass doors and timber screens further foster an indoor-outdoor subtropical experience. To enter the building, residents ascend a staircase through lush gardens; the undulating profile of the staircase is reminiscent of ripples on a sand dune. Inside, a long corridor offers glimpses of the ocean and resort-like amenities, including an infinity pool overlooking the beach.
Well-equipped and spatially generous, Dune’s apartments enable an effortless beachside lifestyle. In the kitchens, a Miele DiamondFinish induction cooktop, Con@ctivity rangehood, CleanSteel oven, microwave and dishwasher add to the sense of elevated luxury. While enhancing the functionality of the space, the appliances create a visually seamless kitchen which promotes a smooth transition to other parts of the home. Tucked behind the kitchen is a butler’s pantry, allowing the social area to remain uncluttered while residents entertain. Elsewhere, the laundry is fitted with state-of-the-art Miele washing machine positioned below a Taj Mahal quartzite benchtop.
To meet the needs of a buyer who might require a secondary living space, Rothelowman has also created a multipurpose room which can be used as a lounge or office. The rest of the apartment expresses the same considered approach to provision. In the master ensuite, a freestanding bath sits amid natural stone floors and rounded forms softened by natural light. The adjoining bedroom also has a gentle visual character, featuring plush wool carpet, a bespoke walk-in wardrobe and a charming Juliet balcony.
While architecturally Dune maximises natural light – combining large windows with open floor plans – its interior design centres on elegance within a coastal context. Taking cues from the surrounding landscape, The Drawing Mill has used warm, natural materials throughout the apartments, including travertine tiles, quartz benchtops and a travertine island bench. Classic and contemporary items are mixed and thoughtfully arranged to establish a timeless outcome.
Immersed in a subtropical climate, the Dune apartments offer a peaceful retreat in a premium location. The elevated design of the development, executed by Rothelowman and The Drawing Mill for Andrews Projects, presents a refined and aspirational interpretation of beachfront luxury.
