Inspiring a Well-Lived Life
A life well lived – this is the aspiration of Measured, an Australian furniture company known for its thoughtfully crafted, enduring design.
Founded by designers Ceci Thompson and Aydin Keyvanloo, Melbourne-based studio Measured reimagines the idea of intentional living with pieces where well-balanced elemental forms and a considered design approach lend a sense of harmony to their surroundings. Whether on a patio, in an office or a hospitality setting, Measured’s furniture strives to contribute to environments that feel good. “We like to think our pieces add to the curation of an atmosphere that allows people to enjoy life’s simple pleasures,” says Thompson. “Each piece is a lesson in tactful restraint – understated, comfortable and low-maintenance – revelling in quietude yet holding its own.”
The pair’s varied experiences designing, manufacturing and selling their designs in Europe, Asia and America have coalesced into Measured’s refined yet approachable furniture pieces that blend global influences with Australian perspective. The result is a range that feels both universal and personal, balancing pure forms with sculptural silhouettes and precision with a sense of soul. The duo’s shared creative intuition is rooted in lived experience, leading to furniture that feel like it belongs wherever it lands.
For Thompson and Keyvanloo, Measured is more than a company – it’s an ethos that reflects their shared commitment to well-resolved design and premium quality. The company’s current range consists of two collections. While similar in materiality, they differ in their expression.
Mornington marries sweeping curves with a strong stance. Its curvilinear profiles offset the angularity of the complex architectural framework, resulting in pieces that feel dynamic yet uncluttered. The collection – comprising a bar stool, counter stool, dining chair with arms and side chair – has been conceived to work together. Each frame can be fitted with aluminium, oak veneer or cushioned seats to suit a variety of environments. The craftsmanship features skilfully executed detailing at every intersection.
Anyhow is more contemporary, guided by clean lines and an open structure, with a stunning airy silhouette. Encompassing dining chairs, stools, lounge chairs, dining tables and a recently added cocktail table, Anyhow contrasts its graphic frame with the gently arched planes of its perfectly pitched backrest and lighthearted circular seat. Coordinating loose cushions in a handful of fabrics enhance the nature-inspired selection of frame colours. Like Mornington, Anyhow demonstrates Measured’s mastery of studied proportions that value both ergonomic comfort and elevated aesthetics. Each piece feels like a subtle treat for the eye – an unassuming piece of art to enhance daily life.
Measured’s commitment to longevity is reflected in its use of materials – rust-proof aluminium and stainless steel rather than steel – robust material thicknesses and durable commercial-grade finishes that can endure Australia’s harsh conditions. Thompson and Keyvanloo prioritise the highest standard of quality: with backgrounds in design and engineering, the couple ensure that every product undergoes multiple iterations and displays meticulous attention to detail.
With a design ideology that embraces intention, craftsmanship and timeless appeal, Measured proves that furniture doesn’t need to shout to make a statement. In its quiet confidence and thoughtful simplicity lies a new kind of luxury – one that celebrates restraint, invites presence and makes space for what truly matters.
