Cult Design
Cult Design showcased Australian furniture and lighting at 3daysofdesign, Denmark’s premier design fair, from 18-20 June 2025.
Since its inception in 2013, 3daysofdesign has grown to become one of the most influential platforms in global design. With an electric atmosphere and focus on creativity, innovation and community, the festival brings together designers, architects, brands and design lovers to celebrate the best of contemporary design in Copenhagen.
“I would describe 3daysofdesign as a festival of ideas, of great design all in one location,” says Richard Munao, founder of Cult. “It’s an important vehicle for brands to actually show off their new products, and I think it’s becoming one of the design shows in the world that you need to attend.”
Well known for its curation of international furniture and lighting, Cult’s presence at 3daysofdesign stems from its longstanding relationships with leading Danish design houses – brands such as Fritz Hansen, Gubi and Carl Hansen & Søn form a key part of Cult’s offering across its showrooms in Australia and New Zealand. “I think we have some of the most beautiful Danish collections,” says Munao. “We’ve been going there to meet our partners and to see what they’re launching … it’s been a great way to not only look at the new products but also continue to develop the relationships that we already have.”
Founded in 1997, Cult has always striven to be unique. “The original vision was really to develop this brand that would be uniquely different to other brands that were in the market at the time,” he says. Through its own design brand, Nau, launched in 2017, Cult develops collaborations with leading Australian designers of furniture, lighting and accessories, giving them access to a global audience.
3daysofdesign was therefore an ideal place for Nau’s first European debut, showcasing the Cove and Nola collections by Tom Fereday, alongside stand-out pieces by Adam Goodrum from its wider catalogue. The Cove collection includes sofas, armchairs, club chairs and a coffee table crafted entirely from solid oak and walnut, while Nola is a lighting piece made from hand-cast glass and solid stone. “I picked 3daysofdesign to be our launchpad in Copenhagen,” says Munao. “I truly thought that they would appreciate this new Australian design that we bring to the market.”
And he was right – the reception of Nau at this year’s festival was excellent. “Experiencing this 3daysofdesign has been a wonderful experience already: to be able to be here and see our own exhibition of Australian design being put together, and then just to see the buzz that’s going on with people walking past and curious as to who we are, what we’re doing here.”
