Bureau, the latest collection from Jardan, is a bold exploration of form, colour and adaptability, blending sharp angles, soft curves and a rich, layered palette.

Designed and made in Melbourne by Jardan, the Bureau collection embodies practical comfort and lasting quality. Whether set in a bustling hotel lobby or a quiet corner of a home, each piece holds its own yet becomes part of a cohesive whole when among the wider collection. The range features a modular sofa with limitless configurations, sculptural tables, a playful dining chair, a sophisticated armchair and a dynamic laptop table – together creating an adaptable landscape of shapes and textures available in a multitude of hues.

Bureau is shaped by two guiding principles: creating forms that are dynamic, inspiring and sculptural while remaining both practical and innovative. Architectural influences such as structural beams and cantilevered planes inform the collection’s geometry, which is softened by tactile details like the gentle curve of a plywood backrest or the subtle wiggle in a chair leg. This interplay creates a layered, adaptable collection that incorporates strength with softness and precision with playfulness.

The collection drew inspiration from the raw geometry and strict linear rhythm of 116 Rokeby in Melbourne’s Collingwood by Figurehead Group and Carr. The building’s symmetry and shadow play provide clarity and intent to each composition, while its brutalist exterior anchors the collection’s bold direction. To complement both the cinematic scope of this project and the warmth of residential spaces, Bureau’s colour palette is deep and nuanced. Soft accents of dune grass balance rich clarets, muted sage, dark nocturnes and warm mahogany. Each hue has been chosen to ensure longevity and complement the existing tones and textures within the environments these pieces will call home.

Upholstered in fabric, leather or vinyl with precise twin-needle stitching, Paulie pairs bold design and functional simplicity.

Central to the collection is Paulie, a modular sofa that stands out for its modelled design and unique geometric silhouette. It offers two distinct styles – one soft and flowing, the other sharp and defined – through its mix of curved and angular modules. These pieces can be arranged in countless ways, making Paulie adaptable to a wide range of spaces and scales. Integrated power supports contemporary work as well as lounge needs, while back and backless pieces allow for dynamic seating arrangements. Upholstered in fabric, leather or vinyl with precise twin-needle stitching, Paulie pairs bold design and functional simplicity.

The collection continues to balance energy and precision through its varied pieces. Kai, a chair and stool duo, features a slender steel frame paired with smoothly rounded plywood and a playful upward curve in the backrest. Offered as a chair, a backless stool or a stool with backrest, Kai combines style and function with a stackable design that suits flexible environments.

The Soren tables bring asymmetry and cantilevered design to the forefront, resting on soft triangular bases and available in side, coffee, dining and bar heights. The spun steel, timber or veneer tops include subtle details that catch the light, softening the geometric edges. Tali offers a modern take on the classic armchair, with a seat that appears to float within a light, open frame; its clean lines and gently curved arms invite relaxed comfort. Completing the Bureau lineup is Max, a sculptural side and laptop table that takes its inspiration from structural I-beams, with a silhouette that tapers and widens through subtle shifts in perspective.

As with all Jardan collections, Bureau is locally made by a dedicated team of designers and craftspeople committed to material integrity and considered production. Each piece is refined through numerous stages of prototyping to ensure it is as functional as it is expressive. From initial sketches to final assembly, every choice reflects a commitment to design excellence and consideration  of how the furniture will be used and enjoyed over time. Sustainability underpins the entire process, with fabrics incorporating recycled fibres for durability, Australian wool that is carbon neutral, and finishes and powder coats free from solvents and waste.
