Penthaus
by Biasol
Penthaus by Biasol is a modern, luxury apartment crowning the new Haus development by Angelo Property Group on Smith Street, Collingwood. With open, sophisticated and light-filled spaces, the apartment encapsulates effortless living and timeless design.
Inspired by the Bauhaus, the building has a striking terracotta-clad prismatic façade with circular windows. The interior design team at Biasol carried these geometric forms and integrity of materials into the apartment to unify the interiors and architecture.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment has open and generous living spaces surrounded by balconies and garden terraces. Large expanses of glazing offer panoramic views across the city and allows sunlight to fill the penthouse, enhancing the sense of openness and connection to the surrounding environment.
The natural light is also reflected by the surfaces of the material palette, creating luminosity and emphasising their inherent detail. Light-grey marble with intricate veining provides a rich backdrop in the kitchen and living area, used as a feature stone for the fireplace, kitchen island and splashback, and continuing into the butler’s pantry. The revival of chrome for the rangehood and fixtures reflects the Bauhaus’ revolutionary use of industrial materials for domestic production.
Black timber joinery anchors the space, and a timber-clad screen above the fireplace adds warmth and conceals the television. The walls throughout the living kitchen, dining and living area have Venetian plaster render, complementing the marble and emphasising the focus on detail and quality of materials.
Biasol replicated the gentle curvatures of the architecture, with smooth, rounded forms at the base of the kitchen island, master-bathroom vanity and extending around the timber-clad screen.
Guided by the architecture of the building and the Bauhaus ethos, Penthaus demonstrates design integrity in which there is nothing excessive or extra, rather the focus is on the intrinsic nature and quality of the materials and the precision of the design.
