From The Architects
In Sydney’s inner-west, this project required sub-dividing an existing property and building three fresh dwellings in a conservation area.
Two of them look out on Nelson Street – a broad tree-lined residential street. One of these maintains the original single-story front with a large two-story addition at the back. The other is a novel modern two-story residence conforming to the region’s freestanding terrace typology. On the rear laneway, there sits the garages and a new freestanding house.
From The Architects
Each of the three dwellings was tailor designed to its unique context. The rear residence is industrially aesthetic and encompasses an austere facade facing the avenue. As we move deeper into the development, the house becomes more skeletal in structure with adjustable panels to regulate the amount of sun, light and privacy.
