Seventy-five years of innovative and bold Italian design coalesce in Minotti’s latest collection of sculptural, architectural furniture meticulously crafted for indoor and outdoor living.
Boldly designed, timeless furniture manufactured using the latest technologies is Italian brand Minotti’s modus operandi. Since 1948, the family-owned company has been designing and making highly coveted furniture that melds form and function. Its 2024 Collection, unveiled earlier this year at Salone del Mobile in Milan, continues that legacy.
“In the dynamic realm of contemporary furniture design, Minotti stands as a paragon of style and innovation,” says John Engelen, founder of dedece, which is Minotti’s exclusive Australian stockist. “For 75 remarkable years, this Italian powerhouse has seamlessly blended tradition with modernity.”
Italian craftsmanship sits at the heart of the new collection, with Minotti’s team of traditional artisans ensuring exquisite finishes for every piece. Comprising both indoor and outdoor furnishings, the collection reflects the company’s dedication to sculptural forms while adhering to the architectural approach spearheaded by architect and designer Rodolfo Dordoni, who held the role of art director from 1997 until his passing in 2023.
Past and present blur in the 2024 collection. The plush, expansive lounges of the 1970s have influenced the sculptural Supermoon sofa system, named for the curved back and armrests that evoke a lunar event. The sofa can be configured in a number of layouts for ultimate flexibility and its upholstery is completely removable. This dynamic piece is the product of a new collaboration between Minotti and designer Giampiero Tagliaferri, whose approach explores the mutualities of 20th-century Italian design and southern Californian modernism. The Supermoon vernacular is continued in a striking bed, its curved headboard mimicking the curved back and armrests of the sofa.
Tagliaferri is also responsible for the Diagramma coffee table, an innovative trio of asymmetrical tables that plays on the contrasts between voids and solids to create storage compartments. They are available with a choice of tops, including marble, coloured glass, brushed timber veneer and gloss lacquer. Other pieces have been designed in partnership with collaborators such as Copenhagen-based architecture firm GamFratesi, Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan and Milan’s Hannes Peer Architecture, continuing Minotti’s commitment to architectural ideals in furniture design.
The elegance and comfort of Minotti’s indoor furniture is also translated into its outdoor range. Materials are selected for their durability and infuse alfresco areas with a sophistication that heightens the outdoor living experience. Exemplifying this is the Drake outdoor dining table, a continuation of the Drake coffee table and console range. It brings the clean lines and lofty structure of that design family outside.
Minotti’s 2024 Collection preserves and reflects the brand’s 75-year-long dedication to brilliant design and innovation, all underpinned by technological curiosity and the highest standards of manufacturing.
