A Sustainable Refresh – About A Collection by HAY
Revealing a constantly evolving ethos and sustainable innovation, HAY’s bestselling range, About A Collection, including the About A Chair and About A Stool, has been relaunched in recycled plastic with new colours and styles. About A Collection Eco’s interchangeable shells are now made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic whilst retaining the refined design typical of HAY’s offerings.
With the objective of recreating one of HAY’s iconic series to reduce the impact on the environment, sustainability lies at the heart of About A Collection’s latest refresh, taking Hee Welling’s iconic seating collaboration with HAY in a more sustainable direction. Now made from 100 per cent post-consumer recycled plastic, the iconic collection has also been released in nine new reinvigorated, playful tones.
The recycled plastic that makes up the collection includes materials derived from household waste such as televisions and washing machines. This is collected, sorted and cleaned in recycling programs before being reprocessed into About A Collection Eco shells, whilst the wooden bases are sourced from FSC-certified forests. All the chairs and stools feature the EU Ecolabel, which recognises products that meet high environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle, allowing consumers to identify an environmentally friendly product.
The About A Collection Eco range has also been released in nine new colours that are now available alongside the seven existing bestselling colours. The wide palette is contemporary and playful, nurturing creativity and adaptability – with endless combination possibilities that will seamlessly integrate into any space.
The endless options and combinations ensure that one can find the ultimate, sustainable stool or chair for any space.
As well as new colours, the refresh offers a diverse range of new styles and design combinations. The About A Chair and About A Stool come in various sizes and can be chosen with or without armrests. One can select from a wide array of seat colours made from recycled plastic or textiles and for the base one can choose between four legs, a star base, a sled base or castors – all available in a variety of materials and finishes. The endless options and combinations ensure that one can find the ultimate, sustainable stool or chair for any space.
