Located in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton, Art Deco Penthouse is an elegant and sophisticated home designed for everyday comfort and effortless entertaining. “The client wanted a luxurious, private penthouse with spacious entertaining areas, bespoke finishes and a rooftop pool and spa,” says Joe Sofra, founder of Joluca Homes. “Inspired by Mediterranean outdoor living and modern Australian design, we created a light-filled oasis using natural materials and elegant technology.”
The interiors are generous in scale, carefully composed and rich in detail, defined by crisp, geometric lines and a soft, neutral palette accented by deep, jewel tones. Joluca Homes’ sculptural approach to form sees fluted details echoed across the sage-green marble kitchen island, glossy indigo bar and monumental freestanding bath. “Every material was chosen not just for its visual impact, but for its ability to elevate the everyday – creating a space that feels both indulgent and liveable,” says Sofra.
The design channels the bold opulence of the Art Deco period through considered details: bevelled glass tiles, steel archways, chrome finishes and geometric patterns. “Art Deco is as much about feeling as it is about form,” he explains. “We made sure the spaces conveyed that refined luxury – inviting, glamorous and unmistakably curated.”
In the open-plan living areas, two MODE KS1460 gas fireplaces from Stoke Fireplace Studio take centre stage. Grand and sculptural, with a sleek, frameless design and fuelbeds modelled after the redwoods of Victoria’s Warburton Valley, the MODE is designed to be a showpiece. In the main living area, the fireplace is a bold architectural feature, integrated seamlessly into the curved polished plaster walls and sitting atop a striking Mont Blanc marble base.
