The nostalgia of traditional tapware has inspired a fresh interpretation for the debut of Agape’s new Memory collection, available in Australia through Artedomus showrooms. A true reflection of Italian quality, the architecturally designed range of tapware and bathroom accessories elevates the bathroom to reflect its heightened importance as a space for personal wellness.

Agape’s Memory collection responds to increasing appreciation for health, wellbeing and luxury, bridging traditional tapware aesthetics with a contemporary sensibility. Designed by leading Italian architecture and design practice Benedini Associati, the Memory collection places an emphasis on form and finish, drawing on the token of ‘memory’ to reissue classic 20th-century fixtures with a modern edge.

The design profile is characterised by clean, sharp and modern lines, available in chrome, brushed burnished brass and natural brushed brass options. This new vernacular continues to the overhauled four-spoke handle, a clear link to the foundational elements of traditional tapware fixtures, while the elevated craftmanship extends to the collection of basins, baths and showers, including benchtop- and wall-mounted mixers, floor-standing spouts and shower heads, in a range of sizes and with single or double controls.

Artedomus Managing Director Phil Brenton sees the collection as a natural progression for the Agape brand and a clear response to the culture of elevating health and wellness in residential and hospitality settings. “In 2023, bathrooms have evolved from a practical space to a sanctuary of relaxation,” Phil notes. “Choosing a new bathtub is now as highly considered as a new sofa, with sculptural and curvaceous designs such as Patricia Urquiola’s Lariana bathtub at Agape topping many a renovator’s wish list.”

The collection includes a range of complementary accessories, equally refined through meticulous European production standards, such as framed and frameless mirrors in rectangular, circular and square forms. As a framed option, the inclusion of an LED backlight provides a sophistication in the specification, where the frameless option creates a more relaxed and seamless character. To pair, a floating shelf honing the same lines and form profile with optional marble inserts meets the contemporary aesthetic established through the collection. Available from 120 millimetres to 700 millimetres, the shelf can be a dramatic expression without overshadowing the fixtures or, equally, may take on a softer, functional intent. The desire to connect the pieces, which also includes a series of towel rails, wall hooks and WC accessories available in the same finishes as the tapware, shows an architectural rigor and vision in the design, required of luxury settings.

Phil also acknowledges the momentum in connecting nature to the interior environment as another way to explore wellness in bathroom design. “Again, Agape leads the way with bath furniture and accessories featuring organic shapes, earth-drawn textures and nature-inspired hues [which are] a signature of the brand.” Beyond its response to nature-focused design, the range is intentional in shaping an elevated lifestyle through the bathroom experience, meeting new expectations for wellness at every corner of the home or guest journey.
