Classic with a Twist is entering an exciting new chapter with the opening of its first flagship showroom outside Victoria. Located on Doggett Street in Fortitude Valley, just off Brisbane’s iconic James Street, the showroom introduces the brand’s bold and vibrant outdoor furniture collections to Queensland. Featuring a selection of international luxury brands, the new space offers Brisbane residents access to the innovative, timeless designs that have made Classic with a Twist a favourite among architects, interior designers and homeowners.

“Given our focus on exceptional outdoor furniture, we knew this was the right time and place to bring our collection to a new audience.”

Founded in 2013, Classic with a Twist started as a boutique Fermob reseller before becoming a distributor for the brand; it is also the exclusive Australian distributor of other internationally recognised names such as Tectona and Sika Design. Through these carefully curated collections, the company has helped define some of Australia’s most celebrated venues, including Raes on Wategos, Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, The Grand Pacific Hotel in Lorne and Redleaf Wollombi.

Opening in Brisbane feels like a natural next step for the family-owned business, given the city’s enviable climate and strong culture of alfresco living. “We have been looking to expand operations over the past 12 to18 months, and Queensland felt like the obvious choice,” says manager director Justin de Steiger. “As one of the fastest-growing states and one with a strong outdoor lifestyle, it was the perfect fit. Given our focus on exceptional outdoor furniture, we knew this was the right time and place to bring our collection to a new audience. And the James Street precinct is the ideal home as we grow our national footprint.”

“The layout has been thoughtfully mapped out to showcase our range, with each piece carefully displayed to highlight its design and craftsmanship.”

The showroom itself, says de Steiger, is a “mix of a gallery, home and creative studio. The layout has been thoughtfully mapped out to showcase our range, with each piece carefully displayed to highlight its design, craftsmanship and the variety of colours and styles on offer.” Designed in collaboration with Brisbane firm Alkot Studio, the all-white space is flooded with natural light, creating a fitting backdrop for Classic with a Twist’s colourful, sometimes whimsical collection. Cork flooring on the mezzanine is the perfect complement to Sika Design’s natural rattan pieces.

The opening marks a significant milestone in the brand’s journey, enabling it to introduce its exceptional offerings to a broader audience. “What truly makes us stand out is our exclusive collection of brands – we carry pieces that can only be found at Classic with a Twist. This means our customers enjoy access to high-quality, distinctive furniture that can’t be found in mainstream retailers, giving their spaces a unique touch. Our vibrant colour options is another unique selling point. Fermob, for example, offers up to 25 colours across its range. This gives our customers the freedom to personalise their outdoor spaces in a way that is both bold and expressive.”
