Entries are now open for the 39th Dulux Colour Awards, one of Australia and New Zealand’s most prestigious showcases of exceptional colour design.

Celebrating innovative and inspiring use of colour in the built environment, the 39th Dulux Colour Awards are now open for entry. Traversing every imaginable interior and exterior space – from residential to public and commercial – the much-anticipated awards invite architects, interior designers, specifiers and students to submit their colour-driven projects for consideration.

“The awards celebrate design and how the considered use of bold and imaginative colour can truly transform the form, feeling and function of a space.”

Showcasing colour design that pushes boundaries, amplifies spaces and structures, and exemplifies execution and ambition, the awards recognise exemplary talent while fostering creativity from established and emerging designers. The 2025 awards feature seven categories, including commercial interior – workplace and retail; commercial interior – public and hospitality; commercial and multi-residential exterior; residential interior; single residential exterior and student. Temporary or installation design, a new category introduced last year, spotlights interior and exterior finishes in impermanent, exhibition and brand promotion experiences.

Dulux colour and communications manager Andrea Lucena-Orr says the awards program is a vital platform in recognising outstanding creativity in the application of colour. “The awards celebrate design and how the considered use of bold and imaginative colour can truly transform the form, feeling and function of a space,” she says. “The depth of talent, sophistication and ambition demonstrated by our emerging and established design community never fails to impress the judging panel’s expectations.”

“I’m eager to see how this year’s entrants have embraced colour to enhance function and form across residential and commercial spaces.”

Joining Lucena-Orr on the judging panel for this year’s awards, which include the coveted Australian Grand Prix and New Zealand Grand Prix titles, features five of Australasia’s most esteemed architects and designers: Andrew Parr of SJB, Kim Bridgland of Edition Office, Rachel Luchetti of Luchetti Krelle, Kerstin Thompson of KTA and Alex McLeod of at.space.

Parr, shortlisted twice in the 2024 awards, says the creative use of colour is an integral aspect of design, particularly when projects face multiple constraints. “I’m eager to see how this year’s entrants have embraced colour to enhance function and form across residential and commercial spaces,” he says.

Major winners in the 2024 awards included Lachlan Seegers Architect for Alexandria House in Sydney and COMMON Architecture + Interiors for Seven Colourful Little Houses in Christchurch.
