Infusing Nature's Palette – Dulux Colour Forecast 2023
As autumn approaches and temperatures change, new shades and textures are sought after to instil an atmosphere of warmth and comfort into interior experiences. Dulux’s 2023 Colour Forecast reports that earth-toned hues, muted yellow-greens and warm neutrals are predicated to take centre stage this coming season.
Colours are the chameleons and silent storytellers of interior design. They convey emotion, atmosphere and personality to define and elevate spaces. With the new season, a palette of nature-inspired hues will fill our homes. The natural environment is a symphony of graceful hues that harmonise to create a masterpiece of wonder and awe. The greens of foliage blanket the forest with a peaceful calmness and the earthy browns and greys of tree trunks and rocks add a grounding sense of strength. Echoing the palette of the natural environment, these tones help to create a relationship between the inside and outside domains of a home through both colour and texture.
Dulux Colour Forecaster and Stylist Bree Leech showcases the potential of using nature-inspired hues to create an inviting space, transforming a predominantly white lounge and dining area into an earthy retreat. The grandiose dimensions and lofty ceilings of the room warranted a sophisticated colour scheme. Using Dulux’s Wasabi, Beaten Track and Stilted Stalks from the Connect range, the interior seamlessly merges with the verdant garden beyond. Beaten Track, a luscious honey tone, harmonises with the wooden beams, yet provides a striking contrast to the flooring. In addition, Stilted Stalks adorns the fireplace wall, emphasising the area’s prominence as the unequivocal centrepiece of the space.
Echoing Dulux’s growing passion for simple living, sustainability and craftsmanship, the transformed atmosphere of room blurs the lines between indoor and out, becoming reminiscent of a gorgeous autumn landscape. The lounge exudes characterful relaxation with a mix of furniture and accessories in different styles and materials. Natural textures, including raw timber, rattan, leather, linen, shearling and stone, create an inviting ambience and support the colour story at play. Handmade ceramics and botanicals reinforce the earthy theme, whereas abstract artwork reflects the landscape’s dynamic colours.
