Eight Sleep has launched Pod 5, the world’s first fully immersive sleep system powered by AI, which transforms beds into intelligent and adaptive environments focused on rest and recovery.
Widely recognised as pioneers in sleep fitness, Eight Sleep is a visionary company transforming our relationship with sleep through innovative technology. Founded in 2014, the company has built its reputation on the principle that quality sleep should never be compromised. Eight Sleep’s award-winning Pod sleep system has earned the trust of high performers, professional athletes and health enthusiasts worldwide. Now, the highly anticipated Pod 5 sets a new benchmark for what sleep technology can deliver.
Pod 5’s modular system consists of four seamlessly integrated components. The Cover, which encases the mattress, tracks health and optimises body temperature dynamically; the Hub, which sits next to the bed, powers the system; an adjustable Base reduces back pressure and helps to alleviate snoring; and a hydro-powered Blanket – which fits inside any quilt cover – connects to the Cover for an immersive thermal experience. All components are controlled via the Eight Sleep app and are clinically tested to improve sleep, delivering up to 32 per cent better quality sleep than an average bed and increasing daytime energy levels by up to 34 per cent.
“Pod 5 is the result of everything we’ve learned about how your environment impacts sleep,” explains Matteo Franceschetti, the company’s co-founder and CEO. “We built it to extend our mastery of thermal regulation and add new dimensions like elevation, sound and intelligent features to take users’ sleep experience to an unprecedented level.”
At Pod 5’s core is Autopilot, Eight Sleep’s AI system. It uses algorithms to continuously learn from sleepers’ biometrics, sleep patterns and recovery trends to anticipate needs and adjust the sleep environment accordingly. Trained on nearly 10 million hours of sleep data, Autopilot’s algorithm continuously adapts to the user’s original sleep blueprint, making subtle refinements over time. “Pod 5 personalises your sleep in real time, adapting with precision to what the body needs at every stage,” says Franceschetti.
The sleep system transforms a bed into an adaptive environment with three core benefits: immersive temperature control, zero-gravity elevation and surround-sound. Features include gentle elevation to improve circulation and reduce snoring without disturbing sleep, and built-in speakers that provide calming audio, with exclusive Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) meditation tracks to ease the nervous system into rest. The components work seamlessly to create a responsive sleep environment personalised to each user.
Alongside Pod 5, Eight Sleep has also introduced Health Check, a breakthrough AI-powered system that monitors cardiovascular and respiratory health during sleep – without requiring any wearable devices. The Pod Cover’s embedded sensors capture key biometrics, including heart rate, respiratory rate and sleep stages. “We see Health Check as the future, where your bed not only helps you recover but also acts as an early warning system. It’s a shift towards preventive care with no wearables on your body, leveraging the seven to nine hours you spend in your bed every day to conduct a review of your health.”
Pod 5 is now available in Australia and comes in three models. Through this holistic, automated, yet dynamic approach to sleep optimisation, Eight Sleep continues to redefine what’s possible when technology meets the science of sleep.
