Seamless and Sleek – Frame Bedroom and Frame Office By Kett

Words by Camille Khouri

As technology becomes increasingly integrated into every facet of daily life, sleek and considered furniture that minimises clutter and prioritises style and functionality has become a necessity. Responding with agility to this need, the new Frame Bedroom and Frame Office collections present a contemporary approach that expands on the success of the Kett Frame Living collection, which now represents a complete storage solution for the entire home.

Released in 2019, the ever-popular Frame Living collection was designed by Justin Hutchinson for Kett in answer to the worldwide trend towards smaller yet smarter homes, which often feature multi-use spaces and require minimalist storage solutions. Designed and made in Australia, the collection now includes the Frame Bedroom and Frame Office, available exclusively at Cosh Living. Just as the original collection was a response to the requirements of modern life, the Bedroom and Office designs further extend this approach, enabling technology to be seamlessly integrated into the home and reducing the clutter of cords and screens to create calm, thoughtful spaces.

The Frame collection uses pure wood-fibre panelling derived from FSC-certified forestry timber.

Recent times have also seen a drive towards healthier homes with minimal impact on the environment. This ethos is reflected in the local production of the Frame collection and the use of natural, sustainably sourced materials, which imbue the home with the beauty of the natural world, explains Justin. “As a painting arrests a view, a portal into another world, so too Frame captures the room by enhancing nature’s warmth through its many timber tones,” he says. “An otherwise blank wall becomes a functional work of art that is constantly changing. Technology disappears and the room becomes a stage for interpretation.”

The Frame collection uses pure wood-fibre panelling derived from FSC-certified forestry timber. The panelling, printed with a wood grain-like texture that is near impossible to tell from solid timber, does not contain phenols, PVC, melamine or added formaldehyde. The substructure allows it to connect to a wall substrate without needing additional supports, meaning the innovative systems can be installed on a variety of different interior walls, from plasterboard to masonry.

For home offices, the Frame workstation includes a built-in pinboard in a variety of linen fabrics that can be matched with existing décor, alongside slimline powder-coated metal wall shelving to house books and paperwork. Printers and stationery are delegated in a below-desk cabinet, with cords and power cables of all sizes housed in a purpose-built compartment. For a luxurious look and feel, the solid oak Aire desk features a hydro formed leather inlay and slender midcentury stylings.

Frame Bedroom seamlessly complements the entire collection, with a low-profile linear bedroom system that integrates all lighting, charging and power requirements. The Kett Erskine bed has cleanly curved edges with French seam detailing and a padded headboard – available in a range of fabric options – for ultimate comfort. As with the entire collection, the Bedroom suite can be customised with a selection of timber tones to suit personal and architectural aesthetics. Accents come in a range of powder-coated colours inspired by the Australian landscape and are softened by marble-look porcelain detailing.

As Justin says, there will always be a place for built-in joinery, but in our fast-moving age, this turnkey solution – which can be implemented to precise specifications and at a fixed cost in just eight weeks – works well with the modern lifestyle. “Our daily rituals are not as they were; more people have adopted a flexible mindset on where work happens,” he says. “Importantly, we need to ensure our homes can be adapted. We see Frame as the most flexible and robust solution to take on the challenge of transforming an underwhelming space into a place of great respite, creativity and productivity.”
