Gaggenau Introduces the Essential Induction

The design vision for the induction system is grounded in the art of reduction, removing distractions and embracing the simple joys of cooking. “It’s about finding delight in the essential aspects of cooking and living, without being overwhelmed by unnecessary features,” says Sven Baacke, head of global design at Gaggenau. There are no frames, gaps or any visible induction modules. “The goal is to create an experience that is pure and beautiful, akin to the sensation of tasting something unadulterated or being in nature without distractions.”

Considering the aesthetics of a space, particularly the kitchen, is key to the Essential Induction. Alongside its seamless finish, the clean aesthetic perfectly complements open-plan living spaces and removes clutter from the often-crowded kitchen area. “The aesthetics are not just about the appliance itself; they extend to having a clean cooktop that allows the architecture to breathe. The kitchen is opening up and the living space is integrating with it,” notes Baacke. “We eliminate distractions and design the perfect space that doesn’t feel like a traditional kitchen with boundaries.” Without the restraints of integrating a visible cooktop, new opportunities emerge for more open, flexible and aesthetically guided kitchen design.

This less-is-more design extends to functionality and customization, too. Available in various Dekton worktop colours and finishes, effortlessly integrating into any home, the Essential Induction also incorporates intricate hidden technology. Core features include a subtle light with varying intensity and colour to indicate whether the module is in use, if residual heat remains or if it is safe to touch, vanishing once the cooking is done. The surface is also scratch- and heat-resistant, while the modules, activated by surface protectors, are quiet and efficient. “It’s about focusing on the connection between the user and the product, how the user interacts with the luxury item and how the item interacts with its environment,” says Piotr Szpryngwald, chief designer of the new cooktop. “It is called the Essential Induction because it represents the core principles of operating a kitchen device in a straightforward manner.”

Redefining kitchen design by combining high-end aesthetics, purity and performance, the Essential Induction is the ultimate addition to contemporary, luxury homes. Baacke reflects that it’s also about “redefining what true luxury means. It’s no longer about conspicuous displays or visible branding. Instead, it’s about a more subtle form of luxury.” In this sense, Gaggenau enriches the cooking experience, rendering it simple, seamless and without unnecessary frills.
