Elevated Lightness – Gold Coast Residence by Nina Maya Interiors
Gold Coast Residence combines the residential elements of a regular abode with the heightening luxury of a destination hotel. Nina Maya Interiors draws from the nearby coast to inspire a light and muted home in the sky, visually enriching the spaces using contrast and deep textures.
Looking out from an elevated position, Gold Coast Residence optimises the unique and outstretching vistas that comprise its location whilst still maintaining an inward focus. Aligned with the coast of Surfers Paradise, the apartment combines key nods to a traditional home with the air of being somewhere special. Curated with every detail, each room connects through a shared materiality and lightness whilst being openly planned and contrasted by an underpinning of warm textures. Nina Maya Interiors employs a selection of natural finishes throughout that soften, temper and give a grounding quality to the home.
With views of the waterfront and horizon as the home’s focus, grouping darker and more solid elements in the centre of the planning ensures the outlook remains uninterrupted. The contrasts created between dark, light, heavy and more transparent insertions aim to delineate the overall floor plan and overlay a sense of order and structure to the home. Imagined as an occasional home for long- or short-term tenants, the fully furnished space is turnkey ready. A collection of work from European, North American and local designers all feature throughout, encouraging the home to adopt a contemporary sense of self.
Although the home feels muted as a whole, there are moments of dynamic reflection. Layers of transparency are inserted, allowing visual access to be retained and a creation of more defined moments to align with distinct functions. Access to the encircling glass façade was a key element of the brief. Serving as a device to ensure a constant reminder of place, the glass adds an overall feeling of calm within. Adding a depth not normally seen in apartment living, natural elements mixed with a selection of metals and handcrafted pieces result in a varying richness of texture.
As a retreat with heightened proportions, Gold Coast Residence combines an openness beyond its bounding walls with an inner contemporary flow. Nina Maya Interiors ensures a sense of luxury if felt throughout and emphasises a unique and specialised expression of the owners.
