Hawthorn Display by Alan Sheppard Constructions
The versatility of Cosentino’s natural stone and ultracompact porcelain surfaces shines in a sophisticated Adelaide residence that exudes contemporary elegance and luxury.
In the living space of the Hawthorn Display project in the Adelaide suburb of the same name, a scene-stealing fireplace is edged in textural black stone, offering a dramatic contrast to the white surfaces and furniture that surrounds it. Alan Sheppard Constructions opted to use Cosentino’s Sensa Black Beauty for the showstopper – it’s a natural stone surface with a revolutionary treatment that makes it highly durable and stain resistant.
“The curves, fresh design and bold character of Sensa Black Beauty surround make the fireplace stand out,” says Alan Sheppard. “It perfectly complements the style of the home and we absolutely love it.” The surface’s functionality is matched by its aesthetic power – and the white that streaks through its dramatic palette is the perfect complement to the display home’s largely monochromatic design language.
Cosentino products have been used extensively throughout the display home, starring in high-traffic areas where surfaces are frequently challenged by heat and moisture. Both natural and manufactured surfaces have been installed, showcasing Cosentino’s versatility across residential projects. The Sensa Black Beauty was also utilised for the vanity benchtop in the ensuite, providing a throughline from the communal living space. Low maintenance and stain-resistant, it’s an ideal choice for wet areas.
Sensa Sant Angelo, a durable, light-toned granite, boasts similar qualities, making it the perfect surface for Hawthorn Display’s striking kitchen. The elegant, matte-finish stone was used for the kitchen’s worktop, island and splashback, proving its heavy-duty credentials. Its richly seamed grey finish offers a luxurious counterpoint to the kitchen’s blue-grey tones and metal hardware.
While natural stone stars indoors, Cosentino’s ultracompact Dekton surface in Grafite takes a leading role in the outdoor kitchen. Crafted using a blend of minerals and with the texture of fine-grained limestone, its superlative strength makes it ideal for alfresco living. “The advantage of using Dekton for outdoor applications is its high UV resistance, as well as the fact that it is scratch and heat resistant,” says Sheppard.
Hawthorn Display is another chapter in the long relationship between Cosentino and the South Australian custom home builder. “We have partnered with Cosentino for a long time and we love their products,” says Sheppard. “It is very easy for us to find a product that suits the type of design we are looking for. And Cosentino has the longest warranties in the market, which offers peace of mind for us and our clients.”
