Setting out to develop a fully resolved solution to customised window shrouds, Heka Hoods pioneered the first one-piece aluminium awning system available in Australia and internationally – offering beautiful design through radical simplification.

Heka Hoods is a minimalist awning hood system prefabricated in one piece and without the need for brackets. Invented, designed, developed and manufactured on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Heka Hoods is a patented Australian innovation. After rigorous research and development – building prototypes, testing for strength and deflection, and engineering many versions of what has now become Heka Hoods – the resulting product is self-supporting at the flange and can be made made as a single unit. Being a fully resolved engineered product, its hoods create simple clean lines without the uncertainty that customising brings.

Developed with functionality front of mind, its unique joining system allows for continuous connection and the creation of almost any shape to suit a multitude of design solutions, all without sacrificing durability.

Awning hood systems enhance the aesthetic of a building’s façade, and the Heka Hoods minimalist solution is simplifying this even further. Arriving on site as a powder-coated finished product, the awnings are ready for quick and easy installation. This streamlined process is a result of the company’s innovative approach to design, with the absence of brackets allowing for simple affixing. Developed with functionality front of mind, its unique joining system allows for continuous connection and the creation of almost any shape to suit a multitude of design solutions, all without sacrificing durability. Furthermore, fixed awning systems play a key role in passive solar design. This ultimately ensures comfortable homes year-round with minimal reliance on air conditioning, contributing to an overall better energy efficiency score.

Designed to suit a range of needs, Heka Hoods offers three versatile series: the Core Series, Extend Series and High Wind Series. Core – its most popular range – has been designed to craft to any shape. Specified by some of the most prominent architects and designers in Australia, Heka Hoods created the Core range to solve the problem of bulky and complicated hood and awning systems. Extend is designed with the same functionality as Core; however, the broader depths of this range make a visual statement. These wide awnings bring a focal point to a design, whilst providing additional protection from the elements. High Wind is the most robust of the range and was developed for sites further north and above 6.5 metres in height. Engineered to meet the strict building standards in place, the Core, Extend and High Wind series are perfect for residential and commercial projects.
