Shine On – Lambert & Fils Available Through Living Edge
Founded in 2010 by Samuel Lambert, Montreal-based lighting design studio Lambert & Fils has grown to be one of the world’s most energised hubs for lighting design. Available in Australia exclusively through Living Edge, the Lambert & Fils portfolio of products represents over a decade of dedication to lighting innovation and a commitment to the elevation of both residential and commercial spaces.
Drawing inspiration from native surroundings and childhood experiences, Lambert & Fils was born in Montreal, Canada, when Samuel opened a small design shop. Established with a commitment to handcrafted lighting design, the studio has captivated international audience with its renegade approach to pushing traditional design boundaries, developing an inherent culture of artistry through expression.
More than a decade later, Samuel leads a studio of over 50 multidisciplinary designers as Artistic Director. Lambert & Fils continues to draw design inspiration from the poetry of materiality, human encounter and new technology to create innovative lighting designs. Through its exploration of new design technologies, Lambert & Fils investigates the infinite shapes of light, while meditating on voids, volumes and the inherent importance of materials in the origin of lighting design. Using these explorations as the basis for innovative design practices, the studio draws inspiration from the point where the unexpected merges with the universally poetic, and where humility meets complex design.
Driven by a commitment to handcrafting the future of light, Lambert & Fils’s design methodology focuses heavily on in-house design, conveying an overt sense of passion within each product the studio produces. Believing strongly in the innumerable benefits of experimentation, working by hand allows the studio to continue to push boundaries. The eye-catching sculptural ceiling, wall and floor lights, such as those in the Laurent, Parc and Dot collections, offer tangible examples of the passion that lies at the heart of the studio, as well as the ability to transform commercial spaces with these examples of true design artistry.
