Lucian Architectural Lighting has become the exclusive commercial distributor across four Australian states for Danish design icon Louis Poulsen.
In a meeting of Danish design heritage and Australian architectural expertise, Lucian Architectural Lighting has announced its appointment as the exclusive commercial distributor of Louis Poulsen in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia, bringing one of the world’s most respected lighting collections to architects, designers and specifiers across the country.
Founded in Denmark in 1874, Louis Poulsen has spent more than 150 years refining a singular philosophy: that light itself is the focus of design. Rather than simply creating objects that illuminate, the brand’s pioneering approach focuses on atmosphere, comfort and revealing the character of architectural spaces.
The partnership marks a significant new chapter for Australia’s design industry, uniting Louis Poulsen’s globally recognised legacy with Lucian’s technical knowledge and specialist expertise in architectural lighting. Louis Poulsen selected Lucian based on its experience delivering considered lighting solutions across complex architectural projects, ensuring Australian clients have access to expert advice, technical support and the full breadth of the collection. Additionally, for the A&D community and specifiers, the partnership translates as a faster turnaround and reduced lead time for the Louis Poulsen range.

Louis Poulsen’s influence is embedded in some of the world’s most recognisable lighting designs. The pioneering PH Series, created by Dane Poul Henningsen in the 1920s, introduced an innovative three-shade system directing light precisely while eliminating glare.
The iconic PH5 pendant, introduced in 1958, remains one of Louis Poulsen’s most celebrated designs. Its layered, sculptural form was engineered to provide comfortable, glare-free light regardless of the bulb used, making it a fixture that has remained relevant across generations.
Henningsen’s PH Artichoke, also designed in 1958, further established Louis Poulsen’s place in architectural history. Created originally for a Copenhagen restaurant, the sculpturally dramatic pendant features 72 carefully positioned “leaves”, concealing the light source while producing a soft, layered glow.
