Backed by 70 years of innovation, Luxaflex continues to pioneer stylish new window-covering technologies designed and tested to suit Australia’s unique environment.
When Luxaflex launched the aluminium Venetian blind in 1954, it marked the beginning of the company’s journey as an innovator in window-covering design, creating products that are not only elegant and on-trend but supremely functional, too. In the 70 years since, Luxaflex has continued to build on that now-iconic blind with an extensive range, all backed by the latest technologies. Featuring premium fabrics and materials, and primarily produced locally, Luxaflex’s window coverings have been meticulously crafted to suit the extremes of the Australian climate.
The company is celebrating a landmark anniversary in 2025: it’s 40 years since Luxaflex’s Duette Shades, the original honeycomb blind, entered the market. The blind’s sleek, modern design is not only stylish but is easily adaptable to forms like arches, skylights, angles and other window shapes. The unique honeycomb structure works as an efficient insulator, the pockets of its cell design trapping hot air in summer and cool air in winter, making the Duette Shades one of the most energy efficient window coverings on the market. Luxaflex has continued to build on the concept, culminating in the Duette Architella, which further increases energy efficiency with its groundbreaking honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb structure.
Utility and aesthetics also come together in the Silhouette and Pirouette Shadings, designed to control the flow of natural light into the home. The S-Vanes of the design-led Silhouette are suspended between two sheer panels; when tilted, they block sightlines from the outside while allowing light to gently filter inside. Durable and easy to clean, the Silhouette is available in a range of fabrics, spanning from the translucent to room-darkening vanes that offer privacy while allowing the optimal amount of light to enter.
Similarly, the Pirouette Shadings diffuse light and offer views outwards without compromising privacy. Front-facing horizontal fabric vanes are slightly curved and connected to a sheer backing that enables them to elegantly open and close in conjunction with one another. Customers can select from a variety of fabric opacities to dictate the preferred level of light.
Although its name is synonymous with blinds, Luxaflex’s offering is wide-ranging, and includes curtains, blinds, awnings and shutters, all reflecting the brand’s innovative, technologically-driven approach to window coverings. Its plantation shutters, for example, are made from a durable polyresin compound, PolySatin, that emulates the soft matte look of timber. Among its wide range of awnings – from straight drop and canopy versions to metal louvres – is the Evo Magnatrack, which incorporates cutting-edge neodymium magnets in its side channels to hold the fabric in place and create a smooth finish, no matter the weather conditions.
While innovation and advanced technologies are at the core of Luxaflex’s approach, its customers have faith in its 70-year history of crafting highly durable, premium window coverings. This legacy of quality rests not only on the company’s trailblazing technologies but also its attention to detail, including its made-to-measure approach and sustainability considerations. Australia’s unique environment is also key to the brand’s singularity. Each product is designed and tested to cater to, and offer protection from, the demands of the Australian elements. Customers can take further reassurance in the fact that most Luxaflex products are made in the company’s Australian factories to rigorous standards.
Luxaflex continues to forge into the future, underpinned by more than seven decades of experience designing blinds that balance the latest technologies with style and an engrained understanding of the Australian lifestyle.
