Economical Styling – mitch. studio by Danielle Brustman
mitch. studio is a hair salon that operates with respect for both people and the planet. Designed by Danielle Brustman, mitch. shines with colour and unique material selections that express the joys of treating yourself.
Finalists for the 2022 Australian Hairdressing Industries Awards for Best Salon Design, Best Eco Salon and State Salon of the Year, mitch. studio recycles 95 per cent of its waste products, including composting leftover hair, and uses carbon offset products by Davines. Located in Ashburton, Melbourne, the two-storey building has been meticulously designed, oozing light, comfort and luxury through every detail.
From the entrance, a refined palette of white walls, yellow Perspex partitions, mustard and white Artedomus glass tiles and hand-coloured oak joinery creates a space removed from the bustle of everyday worries. Highlighted from the larger to the most minute details, yellow imbues a sense of happiness and comfort while in the hands of Founder Tara-Lee Mitchell and her expert team.
Past the reception and retail area (adorned with Entler Studio bespoke six-arm chandelier) await the cutting and wash stations with James Richardson chairs, while upstairs, a hand painted mural defines the different levels. With space for cutting, colouring and washing, this upper level is harmonised with custom lilac Soft Chairs by Daniel Emma and neon wall lights from Daniel Emma and Electric Confetti.
The design of the spaces and the services offered ensures clients are given not only a hair treatment but a holistic experience. In alignment with Sustainable Salons Australia, mitch. studio sets out to showcase all that a sustainably-operating salon can be – namely, a joyful and refined place to spend quality time.
