Murray Residence is reworked by Pasquale Cook to infuse a contemporary charm and refreshed character required for a modern lifestyle.

To enhance a warm yet light atmosphere, Murray Residence is balanced by open, flowing areas and intimate retreat spaces. With an existing renovation from the 1990s that was no longer serving everyday life, the owners engaged Pasquale Cook to strip the rear half of the home back to its core and to integrate connections between the original period elements to the front and the new expansion to the rear.

Making way for a more generous and open family zone, the rear combines the living, dining and kitchen into one. While modest, the reworking remains textured and warm with a crafted undertone felt in selections and fixtures that are regularly engaged with and infuses subtle elements that reflect the personalities of the owners. A curated approach to furniture, lighting and artwork layers past and present. The combination of delicate and robust elements was pivotal to the comfort and familiarity that the owners desired.

Framing views out, steel and glass doors and windows allow the landscape to animate the living areas. Handmade tiles, light fittings and other custom accents overlay an artisanal sensibility, continuing an evolving narrative within the home. As well as lightening and binding each of the spaces, a consistent palette and considered selections are combined with additional storage and concealed amenity to create a sanctuary feeling throughout. The resulting home feels luxurious and private, with the contents and nuanced moments held tightly behind the encasing facade.

Pasquale Cook infuses a grace and timelessness into Murray Residence, striking a balance between modern and heritage features. The resulting home feels refreshed and enlivened through these interventions.
