“Bringing Nemo into our portfolio marks an important evolution for LightCo,” says Roy Doron, the company’s founder and managing director. “It strengthens our contemporary offering and allows us to represent a brand that embodies both design heritage and modern relevance, qualities that align naturally with the direction we see in Australian design.”

Founded in Milan in 1993 by Franco Cassina, Nemo has built its reputation not only on cutting-edge contemporary works but on The Masters collection, featuring pieces by some of the 20th-century’s most influential architects and designers. They include Le Corbusier, renowned for pieces that embody geometric precision and modernist clarity, and Charlotte Perriand, the visionary French architect known for her pioneering approach to materials and form.

Nemo’s stellar collection of contemporary lighting reflects its triple ethos of architectural clarity, materiality and considered form.

Notable pieces in this collection include Le Corbusier’s Lampe de Marseille, with its structured brutalist design, and his Parliament floor lamp, created for the Parliament in Chandigarh, India in 1963, with finishes that reflect the ‘claviers de couleurs’ system developed by the architect. The Potence Pivotante by Charlotte Perriand, inspired by the boom of a yacht, is a swivel lamp in the shape of an inverted ‘L’. Vico Magistretti’s Italian sensibility for proportion and elegance brings warmth to the range, with pieces like the Kuta wall lamp and Claritas floor lamp, while Kazuhide Takahama’s Japanese minimalism adds depth and diversity.

But Nemo is not standing still. Its stellar collection of contemporary lighting reflects its triple ethos of architectural clarity, materiality and considered form. Highlights include Bernhard Osann’s Neo lamp, winner of a 2020 Wallpaper* Design Award, and Paris-based industrial designer Guillaume Bloget’s Type floor lamp and pendant. Crown Major by Jehs + Laub is a modern interpretation of classic chandeliers, while the Kepler collection by Arihiro Miyake features intersecting circles made from extruded aluminium.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how the design community will integrate these pieces into some of the country’s most exceptional interiors.”

The timing of the partnership reflects a growing demand for lighting that is an integral element of the architectural narrative. Nemo’s lighting, whether legacy or modern, resonates with the clean lines and material-driven focus that are the defining characteristics of Australian architecture and interior design. “We’re looking forward to seeing how the design community will integrate these pieces into some of the country’s most exceptional interiors, creating new dialogues between European design heritage and Australian contemporary sensibilities,” says Doron.

LightCo’s role extends beyond distribution to active curation and education. As the Italian brand’s exclusive Australian representative, the company brings a deep understanding of both Nemo’s design philosophy and the local market’s evolving needs.
