Once a private investigation office and a tearoom, Glebe’s latest addition, No. 92 by Pattern Studio is a contemporary two-storey wine bar and restaurant.

The latest addition to Sydney’s Inner West neighbourhood, No.92 is positioned at a busy corner on Glebe Point Road. It pays homage to the Victorian heritage of the building as Pattern Studio carefully brings its history to life. Owner of the refurbished wine bar, Angela Kasimis explains that “the building had a certain elegance that we really wanted to preserve and enhance. Fundamentally, it’s an immersive space that feels more like a congenially serviced private manor than hospitality venue.”

Upon entry, diners are met with an oasis of grey and white Victorian characteristics. From the white curtains to the black bar stools, curved timber banquets and plush rugs, Sydney-based Pattern Studio has created a unique and accessible fine-dining destination. The addition of textured Venetian plaster and limewash wall finishes, mirrored glass and antique pieces throughout No. 92 adds an immediate sense of lustre to the interiors.

The courtyard to the rear is filled with wrought iron furniture, chosen for its ability to withstand weather and age. Filled with leafy trees that hang overhead, the cobbled courtyard seamlessly connects with the interior through the steady flow of white furniture inside and out. Throughout the courtyard, downstairs and upstairs dining areas, various vintage ornaments accentuate an intimate residential appeal.

Serving a carefully curated menu of wine and food by chef John Lyons, No.92 is an unparalleled destination for lunch and dinner. “This is a casual but classy neighbourhood bar where the dishes restore the glory of fine dining with their produce-driven substance, diverse ingredient pairings and textural complexities, but for great value without the pretence,” says the chef.
