Functional and Warm – Northcote House II by FURNISHD.
Northcote House II is an embodiment of the art of seamlessly blending warmth with functionality. Through this meticulously curated home, FURNISHD. translates its vision of accessible design into a tangible reality, effortlessly intertwining the practical with the inviting.
Nestled within Melbourne’s inner north, Northcote House II encapsulates the core of FURNISHD.’s ethos – a delicate dance between aesthetics and purpose. Every element of this home has been thoughtfully designed to reflect a lifestyle that champions both elegance and usability. The homeowners’ vision was the driving force and saw the transformation of their family home focused on strategic furnishings and cosmetic enhancements rather than a full-scale renovation. With a baby on the way and their beloved pup, Louis, the goal was clear: create a functional yet beautiful space that is adaptable to their evolving family.
The living room, a central point demanding equilibrium with various entrances, windows and a fireplace, was an important focus for the design team. Solving this puzzle, FURNISHD. introduced the versatile Lemmy sofa from Jardan – an adaptable piece that harmonises with the ebb and flow of daily life whilst emanating an air of refined sophistication. A touch of artistry is revealed through the customised shelving unit. Crafted with finesse, it not only houses the existing television but also directs the gaze upwards to the soaring ceilings. The Anna Charlesworth 4-Bowl pendant further underscores this union of contemporary and classic styles, seamlessly bridging bygone eras with the present.
Drawing inspiration from renowned interior designer Athena Calderone’s artistic sensibilities, Northcote House II embraces earthy tones and textures, enveloping the space in an inviting embrace. This warm palette effortlessly extends into the kitchen, where brass and sage accents intertwine to create an atmosphere that resonates harmoniously with the adjoining living area.
Beyond functionality, comfort finds its well-deserved place. Positioned thoughtfully at the front of the house, a home office offers serene views that nurture productivity. A playful infusion of pink, courtesy of Andy Harwood’s artwork, introduces a touch of whimsy that elegantly complements the room’s natural elements.
The transformation of Northcote House II stands as a testament to FURNISHD.’s unwavering commitment to accessible design. With every thoughtful selection, the studio weaves a narrative that seamlessly marries functionality with a welcoming ambience. In Northcote House II, FURNISHD. orchestrates a graceful composition where comfort and functionality meld seamlessly to offer a space that resonates with the rhythms of life.
