Oliver Thom Celebrates its Baina Partnership
Members of Sydney’s design community gathered at Oliver Thom’s Woollahra store recently to celebrate the company’s long-standing partnership with luxe towelling brand Baina.
In an intimate celebration of considered design, sustainability and craftsmanship, Oliver Thom’s flagship Woollahra store played host to a clutch of Sydney creatives recently to mark the luxury bathroom homeware brand’s enduring partnership with Antipodean towelling house Baina.
Since its inception, Oliver Thom has championed the art of the bathroom – not as a purely functional space but as a sanctuary, a place of restoration. The introduction of Baina to its curated collections speaks not only to a mutual appreciation for design-led homewares, but also to a shared ethos: design that is conscious, enduring and rooted in narrative.
Co-founder Kaety Thompson recalls the moment Baina’s samples arrived at the store in 2019. “As soon as I felt the quality of the towel samples, I knew they were on to something special,” she says. “The colour combinations were unexpected and chic. There was nothing else like them in the market – it was an instant yes.” At the time, Oliver Thom’s towelling range was limited to international brands. The arrival of Baina – proudly Antipodean in origin – offered something refreshingly local, as well as a deeper alignment in values.
“One of the things I love about Baina is its dedication to knowing the source of its product and ability to trace its origins. We both believe in buying once, buying well,” Thompson says. “Having products of the utmost quality means durability and the reduction of waste. And, just like us, Baina isn’t governed by trends – its designs are timeless.”
Founded by Anna Fahey and Bailey Meredith, Baina was born from a shared reverence for craft and materiality. Drawing inspiration from fine art, architecture and the natural world, Baina’s luxurious towelling collections are 100 per cent organic and handcrafted in small batches in one of Portugal’s most established mills. Speaking to a slower pace of life and the restorative power of self-care, its signature pieces – inspired by earthy hues with checkerboard, bold and thoughtful motifs – proffer a textural punctuation to the bathing experience.
The partnership between Oliver Thom and Baina is not just a commercial alignment, but a creative dialogue – one that continues to evolve. “We’ve created a special bond with Baina over the years, bouncing product and business ideas off each other,” Thompson says. “As it expand its offering, we’ll be there with anticipation and support.”
Oliver Thom brings deep industry knowledge and a refined sensibility to its curation. Also known for its partnerships with premium homewares brand CoTheory and boutique personal-care brand Works, the company presents a cohesive narrative of bathroom luxury that remains accessible.
