Conjuring a sense of journey, One Wingadal Place opens itself to the view while spaces become increasingly intimate in response to the steeply sloping site and its many levels. Collins and Turner combines a refined and highly detailed approach to craft a home of heightened luxury and protection from the elements.

Nestled into the side of its steeply sloping site in Point Piper, One Wingadal Place is anchored to its site through weighted masonry, while opening outward to capitalise on its many and generous aspects. Spread over three levels, the home steps down the site following the natural fall and rise of its terrain, allowing increased exposure across the site and views outward from each level. As the levels ascend, an increasing level of intimacy unfolds, and it is this same inspired sense of journey that is the essence of the home. As a series of spaces connected to its challenging yet interesting site, each space has its own unique relationship with the surrounding outlook and the materiality that encases it along the way. Collins and Turner uses a measured refinement together with custom details to ensure a heightened sense of luxury is embedded throughout.

Built by Pimas Gale, with structural engineering by Partridge and landscape by CAB Consulting, One Wingadal Place is a considered package. The integration of the built form into the landscape and leveraging of its sloping site to its advantage allow the creation of stepped tier gardens to cascade down the slope and create key connections to greenery from within on each level. Entering from the streetscape into the upper level, the volume opens up to the connected living, dining and kitchen space, overlooking enviable city views. The lower two floors then become more and more passive and intimate, both through the materiality and the scale of zones, opening up to the custom library, multiple bedrooms, service spaces and bathrooms.

Clad in Wandabyne sandstone as the main exterior wall material, the structure is afforded a level of protection from the elements as well as a sense of privacy and retreat. On the opposing side, views open up through large floor to ceiling glazed elements and openings that offer a balance to the heavy materiality upon entry. Internally, a simple composition of white plaster, timber and natural stone come together to express the naturally occurring nuance of the finishes, while offering a foundational grounding for the personality of the owners to add layers of richness within the spaces.

One Wingadal Place combines an inherent drama throughout, in its positioning, outlook and the use of monolithic forms of materials and finishes.
