In Partnership with Leicht

Since 1928, German company Leicht has brought beauty to high-end kitchens with its trend-forward designs – and now the brand is launching a new showroom in a Sydney design hub.

For almost a century, architectural kitchen company Leicht has shapeshifted, adapting to trends and new technologies. The German brand’s deeply considered products bring an architectural dimension to kitchens around the world, including in Australia. Now, a new flagship showroom in Danks Street in Waterloo, one of Sydney’s prime design hubs, joins the ranks of Leicht’s international stores – including its debut Sydney showroom in Willoughby. The new space places Leicht’s designs at the fingertips of the architecture and design community working across residential and commercial projects.

Leicht’s excellence in its field has been recognised by multiple bodies and, after almost 100 years, its designs continue to be top sellers in its native Germany.

Precise engineering and premium quality underpin Leicht’s products. Its kitchens incorporate intuitive functional elements that work in harmony with designs suited to any style or aesthetic. In one concept, a handle is incorporated into furniture doors to create a seamless whole. Pullouts and drawers can be integrated for easily accessible storage, while refrigerators can be hidden from view and wine fridges put on display for extra luxurious flair. Worktops, shelf units, kitchen fronts and side panels fit flush to enhance both visual impact and utility; towel holders can be secreted behind cupboard fronts; and shelving illuminated to reduce visual and physical clutter.

Leicht’s excellence in its field has been recognised by multiple bodies and, after almost 100 years, its designs continue to be top sellers in its native Germany. In 2024, its striking, veneered, solid-wood front, Bahia, won several awards for its dynamic surface – an eye-catching vertical groove structure. The grooves are arranged asymmetrically, bringing balance across multiple frontages. The sophisticated yet subtle veneer is designed to partially or comprehensively clad surfaces and walls in spaces including kitchens and bedrooms.

Leicht’s status has been recognised with a slew of awards, including an Excellent Product Design accolade at the 2024 German Design Awards, product awards for sanitation/kitchen and innovative material at the ICONIC Awards 2024, and the Kitchen category in Best of Design Awards 2024. The new Japanese-inspired Kyoto collection, a minimalist design paired with modern functionality, recently received a 2025 German Design Award for Excellent Product Design.

Each architect-designed Leicht kitchen and collection is intended to bring a designer or homeowner’s vision to life using natural woods, veneers, resins, laminates, paint finishes and a range of exclusive pearl, metallic, concrete and steel surfaces. Inspiration is drawn from multiple vernaculars. The Kyoto concept is influenced by traditional Japanese design. Kyoto has also been extended with a range of colourways for surfaces that can be fitted into its frames to bring pops of colour and texture.
