Leading Australian architecture, interior, furniture and lighting design studio Daniel Boddam Studio has released its latest collection, Prism. The Prism collection takes an organic approach to the monumentality of form, synchronising fluid curves with angular and dominant forms.

With its sharp angles and organic curves, the Prism Collection by Daniel Boddam Studio is evocative of crystalline forms with solid silhouettes. Locally designed and made to order, the collection is available in round, oval and long tables, side and coffee tables, and candle holders. Pieces are made from a range of sustainably forested timbers that reflect Daniel Boddam Studio’s appreciation of wood and strong desire to highlight its simple beauty.

Prism is grounded in a mathematical approach, with geometry being a key element of the collection. The tables resemble striking pyramidal structures with intersecting planes separated by hollowed-out joints that appear as if the prism is cracking open. Similarly, form is explored further through the candle holder. Crafted from the offcuts of sustainably sourced timber used for the tables, the candle holders embody a smaller monumental form that celebrates the raw materiality of the timber from which they are fashioned.

The collection effortlessly encapsulates Daniel Boddam Studio’s pursuit of simplicity, subtly elevating the everyday ritual of dining. Prism takes a selective and restrained approach so that each object has a purpose, enhancing a space with its striking geometric presence and profoundly simple beauty and creating a sense of harmony when brought together. The strong but simple forms allow a deep appreciation of timber to come to the fore, inspiring reflection and consideration of the nuanced beauty of design and the artisanal craftsmanship of Daniel Boddam Studio’s pieces.

The collection forms a central component of Daniel Boddam Studio’s dedicated furniture and lighting gallery. Located in the heart of Melbourne’s Collingwood, the space offers inspiring vignettes allowing visitors to become immersed in a moment of calm inspired by the collection. The soft edges and curved forms of the Prism Collection offer a welcome reprieve from the fast-paced energy of the neighbourhood, with gallery staff on-hand to guide visitors through the narrative of each piece and discuss materials, finishes and custom options.
