Seena, formerly Tasman Eco, is a family-owned Australian brand creating sustainable, design-led nursery furniture that unites function and timeless style to support modern families.

Seena is the next chapter in an Australian story that has shaped the nursery furniture industry for more than three decades. Family-owned and based in Sydney, the brand – formerly known as Tasman Eco – was founded by Steve Cenatiempo, who began working in the baby industry in the early ’90s and established Tasman Eco in 2005. From the beginning, the vision has been to create timeless, functional furniture that makes life easier for growing families while bringing considered design into the home. Seena’s small team works closely together to imagine products based on their own experiences as parents, bringing sustainability to nursery furniture, such as cots, through the use of long-lasting materials like plantation timber.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the brand, and even more special because it’s a true family effort.”

The rebrand to Seena marks an important evolution. More than just a new name, Seena reflects a renewed focus on design-led innovation and collaboration, honouring the Cenatiempo family heritage while looking firmly to the future. ‘Seena’ is drawn from a long-held family nickname, a gesture of heritage that acknowledges the people behind the brand and the values that have guided it from the beginning. It is also a statement of intent: a renewed commitment to design-led thinking and the exploration of what cots and other nursery furniture can be when approached with the same rigour as collectable design.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the brand, and even more special because it’s a true family effort,” says Steve Cenatiempo. “While it’s bittersweet to farewell Tasman Eco, the past five years have been about evolving our designs and creating products that are functional, beautiful and make sense in real family life. We are committed to that vision, it’s at the heart of what we’ve always done, and that will never change.”

That design-led vision has already been brought to life through collaborations with Australian designers, challenging traditional ideas of what nursery furniture should look like.

That design-led vision has already been brought to life through collaborations with Australian designers, challenging traditional ideas of what nursery furniture should look like. Among them is the award-winning Willow Collection, developed with Skeehan Studio. Crafted from solid pine and hand-finished for a tactile softness, the collection is defined by smooth curves and rounded edges. The Willow cot balances visual restraint with comfort, its solid headboards allowing parents to be present without distracting their child, a detail that reflects the way even the smallest decisions are guided by empathy and use. Meanwhile, the Willow three-drawer chest offers practicality for early years and a design that can carry naturally into the home.

Innovation takes another form in the Archie cot, the world’s first baby cot made entirely from 100 per cent recycled plastic. Developed with sustainable manufacturing company Defy Design, each cot is unique in its hand-formed patterning, created from recycled plastic sourced and processed in Sydney. Beyond its striking surface, the Archie cot proves that sustainable materials can meet the strictest safety standards while retaining a refined, contemporary aesthetic.

As Seena, the brand carries forward the same family values that have guided it for more than 30 years, with a renewed focus on design-driven furniture.

Alongside these collaborations, pieces such as the Pisa cot reveal Seena’s sensitivity to accessibility and everyday use. Crafted from sustainably sourced pine, its mattress is intentionally lower in height, giving young children independence as they transition from a cot to a toddler bed. With clean lines, dowel details and a restrained silhouette, it demonstrates Seena’s ability to create furniture that is versatile and enduring, without sacrificing design.

As Seena, the brand carries forward the same family values that have guided it for more than 30 years, with a renewed focus on design-driven furniture that speaks to modern parents. By uniting sustainability, function and craft, Seena continues to challenge traditional ideas of what baby and nursery furniture should look like, creating products that feel at home in design-conscious interiors while supporting everyday family life.
