This year, Sydney Open 2020 is bringing audiences a reimagined digital program offering new perspectives and opportunities to reconnect with some of the city’s most significant buildings, urban design and open spaces.

Held across three days from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th November, the program offers audiences the opportunity to watch, explore and interact with Sydney’s architecture, gardens and public spaces in their own time, for free. “Celebrating Sydney has always been important to us,” said Adam Lindsay, Executive Director of Sydney Living Museums. “By showcasing significant and historical buildings, public spaces and homes, we come to realise how important architecture and design is to our quality of life and the way we live.”

Sydney Open 2020 will run across three key themes: ‘City’, ‘Garden’, and ‘Home’. ‘City’ will explore the role that architecture and urban design has played in the evolution of the city, past, present and into the future. Whether a private garden or a city park, ‘Garden’ focuses on the importance of green spaces as places of refuge. ‘Home’ offers a look behind the closed doors of some of the most inspiring homes in Sydney, offering an insight into their architecture and interior design.

Each of the three themes is steered by an official ambassador, with Clover Moore, Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney, the principle Sydney Open 2020 Ambassador. Jess Miller, City of Sydney Councillor & Program Director, Greener Spaces, Better Places is the City Ambassador. The Garden Ambassador is Georgina Reid founder The Plant Hunter, while Aidan Anderson, founder of The Local Project, is the Home Ambassador.

“Celebrating Sydney has always been important to us,” said Adam Lindsay, Executive Director of Sydney Living Museums.
